Alannah Byrne

Alannah Byrne creates elaborate, uniformed shapes and surfaces involving obsessive repetition. Incorporating multifarious materials and textures, her work blurs the edges between her processes and materials, pushing both to their extremes. In her work, the artist explores the tensions between order and chaos, rigidity and pliability, geometric and biometric form, series and singularity, and continuity and change. Alannah Byrne studied Fine Art at the Crawford College of Art and Design, where she graduated in 2009 with first class honours. Additionally, she received three end of year awards, specifically the Art Trail Graduate Award and The Ciaran Langford Bursary Memorial. These additional awards have provided her with residencies at the Backwater Artist Space and The Cork Printmakers.

VISITOR INFORMATION: Exhibition continues until May 22th, 2010. The Gallery is open Thursday – Saturday, 1 pm – 5:30 pm and also by appointment. Admission is free.
