October 7th – 30th 2010

SOMA Contemporary presents “Same Shit, Different Decade”, an exhibition highlighting the creative work of Phil Evans. Opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 7th at 7:00 pm. At the core of the “Same Shit, Different Decade” exhibition, Evans examines social and societal phenomena unhesitatingly. As the artist explains, “The idea of this exhibition stems from people constantly remarking that “The world has gone mad”. It hasn’t, it always has been mad.” Comparing events and cultural happenings of the 1980’s to the current age “Same Shit, Different Decade” takes the form of a whirlwind of paintings, sculptures and installation. Based in Dublin and Wicklow, Evans had exhibited widely and has been involved in many diverse projects both nationally and internationally. Recent projects include Human Pyramids Art Collective”, at Ghetto Gloss Gallery, Los Angeles, 2009, and, producing, directing, and releasing the short film The Scrum Tilly Lush in association with WESC and Nike Europe, in 2009 partaking in the group show  POP {won’t eat itself], at SOMA Contemporary in January 2010 and a successful solo show in the Little Ghost gallery in Kilkenny.
